The filming for the next and fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film has begun! Johnny Depp will be coming back as the good 'ol Captain Jack, along with his faithful friend; Gibbs and there is a whisper that Orlando Bloom may be coming back for his role as Will, the new and better Captain of the Flying Dutchman.
From the website known as IMDB I saw that in the returning cast there would also be Barbossa and the short pirate known as Marty. I wasn't able to get a better look, but there are also quite a few new members to the crew...including our very own dwarf Ori from Middle-earth itself as either a pirate or not, we're not sure yet. I did not see any evidence of Kiera Knightly returning as Elizabeth. Which makes me sad, for I wished to see her in this new film. If they do go on with another actress as Elizabeth I will be upset, for there is no reason why they should do that...seriously. As for the new concerning Orlando Bloom coming back as Will is I think not quite clear. I haven't been able to do much research unfortunately, but according to the IMDB website that concerns films it looks as if he is on the cast list. It'd be great to know if any of you have more secure evidence, but until we hear of further news we must wait until the great year of 2017. Here a bit from a post on the Disney Insider Blog:
Production has begun on location in Australia on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth film in the blockbuster franchise inspired by the classic Disney Parks attraction. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow and will be joined by Javier Bardem, Kayla Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, and Golshifteh Farahani. Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R. McNally, and Stephen Graham are rejoining the action as Barbossa, Gibbs, and Scrum, respectively.
Here we do not see any evidence of either Keira or Orlando joining the crew once more. Which I think is odd because for the first three films Will and Elizabeth were such prominent characters and then we basically drop their story. Of course with the ending we see in At World's End their story ling could end. But for certain reasons I don't see why they should just be dropped from the whole world entirely. You would think they would have at least been mentioned in On Stranger Tides. But this is just my speculation. I honestly hope we'll see them back for the next movie, at least one of them at least. We'll have to wait until then to see truly though. I'll keep you posted on what I know...until then, It's a pirates' life for me!
