And so the day has come...The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is now available for purchase! So long ago it has seemed since the day we all waited outside the theaters to go see the first chapter in this Hobbit journey...not two years ago. And so this is how it ends. End? No, the road does not end here, it is just the beginning of a new path...
And so it is, isn't it? What we have learned from Hobbit films is loyalty, honour, courage, true friendship, and above all, love for those whom you care for most. And that love will never be shaken even through the darkest dreams, and the hardest sacrifices. For that is what you should be willing to endure for the true love and friendship you have for those around you whom you care for. You must be willing to risk everything and anything for what your heart truly desires, and you must overcome the greed that seeks to take hold of you. For it will hold tight and is not easily shaken.
We see this in Thorin's desperate greed sickness for the hoards of gold within Erebor. But he comes to realize that he must overcome for he has hurt his friends and has forced them to turn against him. We see Bilbo's pain along with the rest of the dwarven company, as they watch Thorin slowly become something he isn't. And we rejoice when the great King Under the Mountain redeems himself and comes to realize what is truly valuable and beautiful in life.
Legolas shows his true friendship and loyalty to Tauriel as he begins to understand that he must not let his Father rule his life any longer. He says to Tauriel; "Yes, he is my King. But he does not command my heart" He defies the wishes of Thranduil, and in turn it begins to make Thranduil think of the actions he has committed. In an indirect way, Legolas shows his father love can come in all different people and ways. It takes courage to defy those whom you care for, even if you know they are in the wrong. But in defying their wishes you may be helping them to understand something they could not see before.
Bard is dedicated to his people and is loyal to them to the end. He looks out for their well fair since no one else has taken up the mantle, since now the Master of Laketown has died. (Not that anyone like the master anyway and like how he ruled the people, I think they much prefer Bard) And even though Bard is a natural-born leader and very good at it, he will not take up Kingship even though it is placed before him and even though so many wish he. Bard understands what a can happen so someone when power is given to them. Bard is in the direct line from Girion, Lord of Dale, so it is no surprise when you can see the nobility in his heart.
Bilbo is true to the finish the whole while through, for even though it takes him some time to realize, he was always part of the company. Even when he was unwilling, and even when the dwarves were unwilling to see it. Because of Bilbo and the courage, loyalty and humility within him, the journey to reclaim the lost dwarven kingdom of Erebor was not in vain. And as Bilbo retuned to his Hobbit hole under hill he carried with him the many adventures and trials he went through to go there and back again. So Bilbo will pass on his tale, to Frodo, who will continue the journey in a way no one could have ever imagined.
Never will I forget the beginning of this wonderful journey, five years ago. And may it last until the end of my life, for I never want to leave this characters and these wonderful people behind. And how could I leave them? I love them all so much with a truly real love, and I do believe it is real. Just because I have never met any of them doesn't mean my love for them isn't real. They are the cast and crew of the Hobbit, they are my friends and I will never forget them. My love goes out to all of you, those whom I know of, and those whom I do not know of. I know you are out there and I will forever thank you for the wonderful adventure we have had. Thanks everyone for the wonderful journey so far...
Love from, Rosie
